Nagpur: After the death of the Women’s Forest Guard of Swati Dhumne in a tiger attack in Tadoba on November 20, Matghat Tiger Reserve (MTR) has armed frontline staff with a noise gun, and stun stick to be used in Wildlife Sanctuary.
Several sticks and stun guns are sponsored by actor Randeep Hood through NGO conservation, lenses and wildlife (claw).
Speaking with Toi, CCF & Director of the MTR field, Jayoti Banerjee said, “With a pilot base, we use 40 noise pistols in the Wildlife Division of Akot, and both stun sticks and guns in typeshwar, where there is a high tiger density.
Based on feedback, us will introduce it elsewhere by finding funds under the annual operating plan for tiger reserves.
