Even though the team finished fourth, it was a lion show from the girls.
Taking to Twitter, Rani shared a series of images with Marijne and wrote: “Thank you to Coach @SJoerdmariJne for everything you have done for the best women’s hockey team for new chapters for chapters.” The Dutch coach has taken over the team for the first time in 2017.
In the Olympic qualification, Indian women’s hockey team beat the US 5-1 in the first match.
However, in the next match, they fell 4-1 and almost managed to make pieces for the Olympics.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, Marijne lived back in India and continued the training session as soon as they were allowed to practice.
In January 2021, the team flew to Argentina where they drew two matches and lost on four occasions.

However, they gained a vital experience that really helped them.
At the Olympics, they have dreams where they beat the world no.3 Australia 1-0 in the quarter-finals.
However, in the semifinals and in the bronze play-off medal, they lost to Argentina and England each to complete the fourth, which was their best performance at the Olympics since 1980.
