Skipper Rani has rested for the women’s championship trophy next month and in his absence of Deputy Captain Savita will lead the strongest Indian Hockey team.
The tournament is scheduled to be played in Donghae, South Korea from December 5-12.
India began their campaign on the opening day and would fight against China, Korea, Japan, Thailand and Malaysia in a single pool tournament for the top award.
Savita, named FIH goalkeeper this year, will the captain of the team as regular captain Rani has rested and is in rehabilitation in Bengaluru.
Experienced defender Grace Ekka will support Savita as Deputy Captain.

Talking about the composition of the team, head coach Janneke Schopman said, “Although some unprofitable injuries and senior players join the junior team for the junior world cup in South Africa, I feel we have chosen a good team for the upcoming women’s women’s trophy.
” This will be the first task of Schopman as head coach has taken over Sjoerd Marijne.
He previously served as analytical coach of the party.

While India will play their opening match against Thailand on December 5, they play Malaysia later a day, in December 6, and Defending Korean champions in their third match on December 8.
India then played China and Japan each at 8 and December 11.
Final will take place on December 12 between the top of the pool and the team that finished the pool.
This will be the first team of a female team India Since the Tokyo Olympics.
In the previous edition was held in 2018, India had completed runners-up behind Korea.
