Vadodara: This was for the first time after 2001 that MLA from the city of Vadodara was picked up as a cabinet minister in the Gujarat government.
In the past, the former Minister of Saurabh Patel, who was elected from a constituency of Akota in the city was elected as the cabinet minister in 2012.
While Saurabh Patel contested from the city, he did not belong to Vadodara.
Before Saurabh Patel, it was Nalin Bhatt and Jaspal Singh made by the Cabinet Minister.
They were together in the cabinet too, but then Singh who remained minister until 2001 when he was dropped from the cabinet.
Singh has stopped from BJP just to join the party later.
After Singh, Mla like Bhupendra Lakhawala, Jitendra Sukhadia and Yogesh Patel managed to reach the ministry but only as Minister of State.
Rajendra Trivedi who has now made the Cabinet Minister has been named the Minister of State with an independent charge in 2016.
Trivedi became an assembly speaker in the terms of both MLA, but the city did not get the cabinet minister.
