Panaji: Of the various crimes against women, the rape incident has become the highest in Goa for the past six years, with 387 cases reported in the country since January 2016, according to the data from the State Assembly.
Minimum 60 rape cases have been reported every year in Goa since 2016.
This year, until September 30, 54 rape has been revealed.
In 2021, the highest number of nine rape cases was reported at the Porvorim police station, followed by eight in Mapapaa and five in Maina-Curorim.
According to the record at home, of the 387 rape cases reported since 2016, the majority are still awaiting trials, including those reported five to six years ago.
So far, only nine of cases lead to punishment on charges.
A number of cases have been closed for various reasons after the investigation.
Other crimes are generally committed to women in Goa, starting in January 2016 and so on, it has been kidnapped.
Over the past six years, 238 surprising cases have been registered in the state.
Cases though have shown a decline from 53 in 2016 to 25 and 24 cases, respectively, in 2020 and until September 30, 2021.
Forcing women into commercial sexual activities is the next most common crime.
From 2016, 193 such cases have been registered.
Cases have shown a recent decline, but only during the pandemic years.
Meanwhile, 86 kidnapping cases have been registered in Goa since 2016.
It has also declined during a pandemic.
One of the murders of a female victim lasted almost every month in the state between January 2016 to September 2021.
In all of that, 68 murders were reported as many months.
