Ahmedabad: Rath Yatra Lord Jagannath 144 in Ahmedabad on July 12 will be held with curfews in all areas on the procession route.
Given the situation of the pandemic, the permit for the event was given with the limitation “to preserve the faith of the worshipers”, the Minister of State for the Pradipshinh Jadeja home said on Thursday.
The Lord Jagannath train, Devi Subhadra and Lord Balbhadra will be accompanied by only five vehicles and a handful of people to pull the train, because settings are made to ensure that the procession returns to the temple in about five hours.
The curfew will be charged from 7am to 2 noon in the area where the procession will pass, said Jadeja.
“The government has monitored a number of new Covid-19 cases every day.
Simultaneously, it has considered how to preserve the faith of worshipers and has decided to hold Rath Yatra with strict restrictions and protocols,” Jadeja told the media on Thursday afternoon.
He added that the government was able to control the second wave of cases with great efforts.
“Strict actions will be taken against anyone who violates hours of night or restrictions and protocols,” said Minister.
“Instead of gathering the Yatra route, we asked people to watch live broadcasts in Doordarshan and other channels.
We recently suffered the second wave of Coronavirus cases.
We must be very careful and ensure the festival does not worsen the situation,” said Jadyja , He added, “Because people from other districts and those who live in the western part of the city are also flocked to the route to watch the procession, the police will arrange traffic on all bridges to make people not approach routes.”
