Bhubaneswar: Restrictions forced by Pandemic Covid-19 cannot blunt the spirit of Rath Yatra with the gods of Jagannath Temple in Puri set to start a nine-day trip to their birthplace, on Monday marking the beginning of the country’s largest festival.
While the ancient ritual of the 12th century – centuries rituals remained unaffected by pandemic, buzzing worshipers at the Grand Road or Bada Danda, because the locals called it, disappeared because of their participation prohibitions in RATH.
Grand Road three km from Jagannath Temple to Gundicha Temple used to be full of worshipers who erupted in excitement during RATH before Covid-19 changed everything.
While Puri will remain beyond the limit for tourists with the imposition of hours of night from 8pm, on Sundays, the locals are lucky enough to be able to offer their prayers outside the temple and touch the Chariot the day before Rath Yatra.
The curfew will remain valid until 8pm on Tuesday.
Hotels on both sides of the Grand Road have been emptied.
“We can’t get out of our house on Monday.
To feel Rath Yatra, we go near the blank train a day before and pay for our respect.
We will lose the views of the gods above the Grand Chariots for the second year in a row,” Subasini Tripathy said , Residents of Puri, said.
Singha Dwar (Lion gate) in front of the Jagannath Temple was soaked in religious spirit when the waiters pulled three trains from Ratha Khala (where they were made) to the main gate of the temple in the middle of a cymbal beating and blew.
Conches.
Administrator Head of Temple Shree Jagannath visited Govardhan Math and invited Puri Shankaracharya, Swami Nischalandada Saraswati, to give a prayer to the gods on Monday on Monday.
