New Delhi: Shiv Sena Leader Sanjay Raut on Tuesday said ‘Hindutva has been suffocated’ in Uttar Pradesh and seeking CBI investigation into the death of Mahant Narendra Giri.
The influential Hindu semin was found dead on Monday at Baghambari Muth in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh.
He is President Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad, the largest Sadhus organization in India.
Speaking with reporters here, Raut said the reason quoted for Seer’s death was suicide, but his followers felt that he was killed.
“Someone has strangled the Hindutva at Uttar Pradesh.
There should be a CBI investigation (in Seer’s death) in our way (the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra) did it in Palghar,” said Rau.
Referring to Lynching from two sadhuses and their drivers in Palghar in April 2020, Raut said BJP at that time said that the Hindutva had been attacked.
On April 16, 2020, an elephant cart of two Sadhus Chikne Maharaj Kalpavrukshagiri (70) and sushilgiri Maharaj (35) – and their driver Nilesh Telgade (30) at Gadchinchale in Palghar district, 140 km north of Mumbai.
Given his party’s relationship with Seer Top, Raut said he was associated with Kumbh Mela and the Ram Janmabhoomi movement and as a Hindutva organization, Sena Shiv received his blessings several times.
According to Inspector General of Police K Singh, Mahant Giri’s body was found hanging from the ceiling by his students.
Suicide notes that are said to be found in the location where the fortune tellers have written that he mentally disturbed and ended his life.
Seer had written him upset with one of his students, police said.
