Palanpur: The famous Tana-Riri music festival from Vadnagar coincides with the 75th year of independence this year.
It was held recently where the world record was set with 112 artists playing Bhungal – musical instruments such as trumpets made of copper or brass – nonstop for five minutes.

One of the main musical instruments, besides Tabla for Bhavai shows, Bhungal gave the rhythm and dance players.

Akbar then summoned the two sisters to the court, but because of the conservative social norms of the community, Tana and Riri preferred to sacrifice themselves in Vadnagar rather than refusing or obeying the emperor’s call.
A samadhi made in Vadnagar named Tana Riri Samadhi and the annual classical music festival held near Samadhi.
Present at this year’s function is Sangeet Natak Academy’s Pankaj Bhatt, Head of Genius Foundation, Pawan Soarki among many others.
The festival organizer is Bharat Vyas of Himmatnagar.
