Mumbai: More than one million people (10.96 lakh) were carried out against Covid in Maharashtra on Saturday, making it the highest voter in mass vaccination drives starting on January 16.
It includes 2.58 lakh people in Mumbai, according to the daily vaccine update.
BMC also made notes by providing a free vaccine to 1,03,325 people, the highest in one day so far.
1.5 lakh vaccine remaining, according to BMC, given by 93 private centers for three days: 50,083 on August 19 44,375 on August 20 and 52,717 on Saturday.
Drive in Mumbai restarted on Saturday after a two-day break was caused by a scarcity of doses.
On Friday, BMC received a dose of 1.5 lakh covishield from the state government.
“We also got 10,000 covaxin from the state and had enough to vaccinate high numbers for two to three days, ” said additional commissioner BMC Suresh Kakani.
In Mumbai, special sessions were carried out to vaccinate 500 street vendors and 190 female sex workers.
State officials said Chairman of the Minister of Uddhav Thackeray and Minister of Health Rajesh Tope praised the work of “unparalleled ‘by the Ministry of Health in vaccinating around 11 Lakh residents.
“Today, officials and employees of the Ministry of Health prove that more than 10 Lakh vaccinations can be done in a day, and the state can vaccinate more,” Tope said.
More efforts like that will be made, he added.
The Secretary of the Additional Chief (Health) Dr.
Pradip Vyas said the number 10.96 lakh was reached at 7pm.
“It’s likely to go up late at night,” he added.
The state gave 5.3 shot shots, including 1.4 Crore which was fully vaccinated, and 3.8 crore who got the first vaccine.
Maharashtra is the only country, apart from above, for Crossing the 5 Crore sign.
On July 3, the state vaccinated 8.11 people lakh.
At night independence, 9.46 lakh people were vaccinated.
“After the highest number of vaccination today, a new record has been determined by Maharashtra,” Dr.
Vyas added.
