Mumbai: IMD has issued a red warning for Palghar for Wednesday, showing very heavy rain in isolated places, while orange warnings have been placed for Thane and Mumbai for days with heavy rain for several places.
The wet spell is likely to continue until Thursday.
On Tuesday, rainfall activities were slightly recorded throughout the day in Mumbai.
In the nine hours it ended 5.30 in the afternoon, the Observatory IMD Colaba had recorded only 0.9mm rain while IMD Santacruz Observatory recorded 36 mm of rain.
But when developing days, suburban parts, such as Mulund, Powai, Andheri, Malad and Goregaon, began reporting heavy rainfall activities.
IMD said the low pressure area is well marked in the south of Chhattisgarh and side by side with South Odisha, with circulation of related cyclones, it is estimated that it will increase the activity of rainfall in the Mumbai and side by side.
Low pressure areas and the rest tend to move West-Westwards for the next 4-5 days.
“Under the influence of this weather system, most parts of Maharashtra are likely to experience increased rainfall activity with very heavy rainfall in several places above KONKAN, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada for 2-3 the following days with gradual reduction after,” said IMD.
Meanwhile, the water stock on the lake has touched 92.75%.
The total quantum water stock reaches 13.42 lakh million liters.
With rain picking up another step, there are opportunities for stock water on the lake also reaching their full capacity.
The maximum temperature recorded on Tuesday by Observatory IMD Colaba is 30.6 degrees, while the Observatory IMD Santacruz records a maximum temperature of 29.7 degrees.
