Hyderabad: The tension is valid near the Indira Gandhi circle in the Constituency Area of the Suryapet District Huzurnagar on Friday after the local authority moved the statues of the former Prime Minister of Indira Gandhi and former Chief of Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy.
Huzurnagar ex-MLA and currently Nalgonda MP N Uttam Kumar Reddy along with party leaders and local people held Dharna who demanded the statue of Indira Gandhi and YSR.
While the statues were issued for widening and rebuilding the road, UTTAM along with party workers and locals sat with a hunger strike in Huzurnagar demanding back the statues destroyed as part of the highway widening work.
Uttam said it was nearly four decades of Indira Gandhi’s old statue after the intersection was named as Indira Chowk.
After the statue of Indira Gandhi and YSR were damaged and removed by officials for road widening work, members of Congress and a large number of activists conducted sit-in and fast to protest the action.
Alleged that some people with personal interests have instructed the statue demolition officials, Uttam called it “illegal”.
He demanded action against streets and building officials who oversee work.
Tension applies in the city for some time when congressional activists enter the argument heated with officials.
However, the situation was controlled by the police.
At night, Uttam destroyed his official when officials assured that the statues would be reinstalled after the work was completed.
