Reform on Anvil to make autonomous institutions in 15 years: min

Mangaluru: Minister of Higher Education CN Ashwath Narayan said the government aimed at implementing reforms that would make all higher education institutions in state autonomy in the next 15 years.
He spoke after launching the implementation of the national education policy (NEP) -2020 at Mangalore University (MU) here on Monday.
“The main reform in the education sector, especially in the administrative perspective, provides autonomy for institutions.
At present, these institutions function under the government or university.
Our aim is out of the affiliate system.
All institutions must get autonomy that allows them to grow.
In the next 15 years, each institution, autonomous, must have the power to provide degrees.
The institutions will improve the quality of education through a well-planned road map.
The institutions will have their own independent boards, “said Minister.
The aim of the state universities, universities or private institutions is considered to provide quality education to students, he added.
In the NEP-2020, he said it was a student and centric friendly policy that would strengthen the education system and bring higher education and administrative reforms in this sector.
“NEP was recruited after a broad consultation and remembering more than three suggestions of lakh in the last five years.
This policy aims to empower the community community to face competition at the global level.
This will make a rigid education system flexible through many reforms.
NEP has the purpose of providing a type of education Right, and aim for the development of versatile students and uphold the country’s culture and legacy, “he said.
Pradeep P, Commissioner of the Collegiate Education Department, said the awareness of NEP was being created among students and the teaching faculty.
“The acceptance module under the Unified University and College Management System (UUCMS) model has been launched.
Students must be guided by colleges about choosing two core and elective subjects open.
All questions from students and faculties are being answered through a web portal made for NEP, “He added.

P S Yadadithaya said the center of PG, with a continued study center, will be opened in the Botutu from the next academic year.
The university has also submitted proposals to the government to establish the center of Dr.
V Acharya for coastal development studies in Udupi with the estimated cost of Rs 5 Crore, he said.
MU’s sixth constituency in Moodbidri was also inaugurated on that occasion.
