CHENNAI: Regardless of the pandemic and general elections, the Tamil Nadu Textbook and Educational Services Corporation has published almost 3.
8 crore textbooks for college pupils to the 2021-22 academic calendar year.
Thus far, 91 percent of textbooks are delivered with the capsules to the designated schools and godowns throughout the nation.
“While 100 percent of Faculties to Classes VIII to XII are published, for different courses a little fraction of books are not yet been delivered.
For Courses I and II, many textbooks are pending because of the comprehensive lockdown.
When the lockdown is raised, they’ll be published and moved into specified colleges,” an official in the textbook firm stated.
Being an election year, the company began printing the textbooks January.
“We transferred the textbooks through March and April into the 120 assigned centers.
Since there weren’t any significant modifications, the printing function started well beforehand,” the officer stated.
The company will assume the print of another quantity of textbooks for Classes XI and XII in the forthcoming weeks.
The textbook firm plans to disperse the textbooks to private colleges that set the orders following the Covid-19 instances return.
The textbook company published the bridge class materials and methods for pupils of Categories I to IX to bridge the difference in online learning.
Citing the Covid-19 pandemic, educationists encouraged the state authorities to supply the textbooks in the doorstep of pupils this past year.
“In light of the outbreak, the country should take action to provide textbooks in the doorstep of kids for 2021-22 academic calendar year.
Both private and government colleges could be requested to provide textbooks and laptops by using their teachers and observe the status of children.
The state needs to offer the logistics, such as protective equipment like face guards and PPEs for teachers,” stated P B Prince Gajendrababu, general secretary, and State Platform for Common School System.
He said educators over 50 years ago and also comorbidities could be granted static work at universities with no people contact.
Private schools may also be likely to look for consent to choose the textbooks in the godowns and send it to pupils.
“Pupils want textbooks to attend online courses.
We’re planning to request exemption from Covid-19 lockdown limitations for delivering Faculties into the doorsteps of the pupils,” explained N Vijayan, senior leader of Zion Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Tambaram.
