Chennai: new casts fell on Saturday to 1,916 of 1,933 on Friday, although 14 districts including namakkal, karur, salmon, Chengalpet and Chennai reported increased cases.
The state added 34 deaths, which encouraged cumulative victims to 34,496.
In the end, there are 20,427 active cases.
Coimbatore reported 223 new cases attended by 219 in Chennai.
While new cases in Coimbatore fell from 236 on Friday to 223 on Saturday, new cases in Chennai increased from 211 to 219 in the last 24 hours.
Active cases are above 2000 in Coimbatore and Chennai.
While Coimbatore has 2380 patients still under care, Chennai has 2112 patients.
The highest increase in new cases is in namakkal.
The district added 62 new cases on Saturday compared to 47 cases on Friday.
With three new cases, Virudhunagar has the least number of new cases followed by Ramanathapuram (4), Tenkasi (5) and thoothukudi (6).
Meanwhile, people 3.7Lakh took vaccines in government vaccination centers, taking the calculation of cumulative doses to 2.44 crores.
So far, the dose of 18lakh has been managed in a private hospital since May 1.
