Panaji: There is good news for people engaged in the tourism sector as a state cabinet on Friday gave approval for 50% neglect in registration fees or updates for tourist activities for the financial year of 2021-22.
The state government’s decision will result in the loss of revenue over Rs 1.3 Crore.
Goa travel and tourism associations on behalf of stakeholders have asked the state government to neglect registration fees stating that the business has faced losses due to a consequent pandemic and locking.
Neglect will apply to C-category accommodation (economy class) and category D (Other accommodations that include homestay or bed and breakfast, dealers, travel agents, water sports activities, including water scooters, ski skiing, parasailing, and jet skiing, tourist boats and launched, including cruise ships and cruise ships, among others).
Registration of Goa from Tourist Trade Act, 1982, and Registration of Goa from Tourist Trade Regulations, 1985, came into force since April 1, 1985, and has changed several times afterwards.
All tourist activities are arranged under this action through registration and law enforcement.
