Regular international flights to remain suspended until February 28

New Delhi: Omicron variants are increasingly pushing back the resumption of international flights scheduled.
They will now remain suspended until February 28, 2022, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation said in circular on Wednesday.
Flights under the expensive choice of air bubbles, which India now have with more than 30 countries, will continue.
Regular international flights are suspended on March 23, 2020.
“This restriction does not apply to all international cargo operations and specifically approved flights by DGCA,” Circular said.
Just before Omicron hit, the government has announced the resumption of regular flights from December 15, 2021.
However, it did not happen when the reopening of December 15 was suspended, leaving expensive bubble flights as the only choice for travelers.
While delaying the reopening of December 15, DGCA has said: “Given the global scenario that develops with the emergence of a new variant of concern, the situation is being watched carefully in consultation with all stakeholders and proper decisions that show the effective reopening date of international passenger service Commercial scheduled to be notified in time.
