PATIAL: Charanjit Singh Channi’s Minister of Punjab, Dr.
Manohar Singh, among the prospective tickets that did not get to the first list of Congress for Punjab polls February 14, was stated on Sunday he would oppose the seat of Bass Pathana in the district of Fatehgarh Friends as an independent candidate Against Sitting Mla Gurpreet Singh GP.
Kharar, Manohar came out of his government work and opened an office in Bassi Pathana about three months ago, interesting in fighting for the seats provided for the scheduled castles.
“Mla Gurpreet Singh GP is not a suitable candidate for chairs.
He has failed to keep in touch with the masses.
Channi tried his best to get a congressional ticket for me, but would not be able to support me publicly,” Manohar said.
“I have supported Kani Morcha and believes that local leadership will support me.
I served as a doctor in Bassi Pathana from January to July 2019, but GP made me transferred by asking Minister of Health Balbir Singh Sidhu to release me.” On whether Channi had tried to persuade him not to fight for the election against Congress candidates, Manohar said his decision to take the decline in selection was “according to public aspirations” and that CM had to convince the masses if he wanted his brothers to step to the side.
At a general meeting at Bassi Pathana on December 23, the president of the Punjab Congress Navjot Singh Sidhu has supported the GP public and said there was no room for nepotism at the party while allocating tickets.
“No brother or female will get space when the GP is here,” he said.
If he enters the poll, Manohar will also fight BSP Shiv Kumar Kalyan, Rupinder Singh Singh Happy and Sad’s Dharam Singh Kalaud, among others.
The source said the GP was open to talk to a cm brother to try and convince him not to oppose the chair.
