Mumbai: Fraudsters collect money online on behalf of flood victims by establishing a fake organization, Maharashtra police warned on Friday.
People must be vigilant when contributing online to any organization, the cyber wings from the state police said in an advisor.
Some organizations work for flood victims and landslides last week and made assistance requests on social media.
Cyber Fraudster takes advantage of this and collects donations for non-existing NGOs and charity trust.
The bank account provided by these people was found as a personal account, police said.
People must examine the authenticity of the organization / people before donating, he added.
