Remove the River Envantation of the NAG in a time-bound method: HC to NMC

Nagpur: worrying about mushrooming unauthorized construction, slums and human settlements on the banks of the Nag river, the tributary and other Nullah who provide water for it, the high court nagpur bench directs all encroachment in time in a bound manner.
Request Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) Sudhir Puranical Advice to take immediate steps to identify all these illegal structures on the Iconic River which began somewhere on the hill right behind Lake Ambazari, a division bench consisting of Sunil Shukre and Antil Pansare told him to inform the progress carried out on their transfer within three weeks.
The judges said, “These encroachment in slums and various kinds of construction (Pakka and Kaccha) have truly strangled the river, the tributors and all Nullah flows through the city.
All of this has reduced its capacity to accommodate rain and stormwater and finally drain it on the Waingka River.
In turn, it has increased the possibility of floods flooding the city.
“While observing this illegal settlement, in addition to triggering flooding, damaging the river ecology and endangering valuable human life, the judges warn that there is an increase in the possibility that this construction seems to be made in The flood line will be the first and worst press if the flood occurs.
The court heard Suo Motu’s voice (No.
1/2020) based on various media reports about the fate of the river which has now turned NULLAH to dispose of wastewater.
The judges presented respondents because they failed to implement the river rejuvenation plan to date.
“It seems to us that even though there are a number of plans made for river rejuvenation and even road maps are prepared, there are no effective steps so far have been taken to apply it.” It is not yet known whether there is a tender issued, each implementation body is appointed and how many Funds given according to road maps.
It is also not known what is actually done to rejuvenate it, “HC said will accept it on his name.
while giving leave to Amicus curiae Nikhil Padhye for two weeks, the judge asked respondents about the progress made in the detailed project report on the River Revision (DPR) where RS2.400 Crore would be spent on his rejuvenation.
Both NMC and lawyers of the Maharashtra Government Look for time to file a reply.
