Coimbatore: Vagarayanpalayam main health center (PHC) was closed down on Saturday following its primary medical officer and all of those four service team members tested positive for Covid-19. Residentswho expected that the PHC would tack on Monday following two weeks of entry, were amazed to find it closed on the afternoon with no info on whether it might reopen. Some have approached Vagarayanpalayam city panchayat with a petition to reopen the center with employees on deputation for 3 weeks.According to K Selvaraj, among the inhabitants of Vagarayanpalayam, the PHC serves nearly 20 village panchayats, such as Mopperipalayam, Pathuvampatti, Kaduvettipalayam, Ittampalayam along with Pachapapalayam, amongst others. The following nearest medical centers are Annur government practice, which will be over 10km out, also Somanur PHC, that is 15km away.
