Thiruvananthapuram: The Directorate of Urban Affairs in his report to the Main Secretary, LSGD, has stated that an illogical way of Corporation City rented 21 rental vehicles to transport 28 waste after Atkala.
The report was delivered by the Urban Directorate of Urban after corruption allegations in hiring vehicles for waste management related to Pongala attukal.
Renu Raj, Director of Urban Affairs, in the submitted report has also recommended issuing strict instructions to City Corporation to avoid these practices in the future.
“Renting more vehicles than needed for the actual purpose will invite allegations of financial fraud and will slander Civic’s body reputation.
It is right that the Civic body can be given strict instructions to quit such practice,” said the report.
Demand was carried out based on complaints received on the handling of the complaints of the minister’s chairman.
The report has recorded a report submitted by Secretary of the City Corporation and Director of Joint Regional (RJD) (Kollam), urban affairs, regarding the same problem.
Director of Urban Affairs has upheld RJD comments that there is no need to employ a large number of vehicles, especially when it is known that the Pongala Festival will be limited to the house.
However, the two reports submitted by RJD and Director of Urban, have ratified corporate conflict that the Civic body only hired 21 vehicles this year while usually 40-45 vehicles were used in previous years.
Furthermore, the corporation shows that vehicles are used to clean up garbage piles that accumulate in other parts of the city.
In the report submitted by the Corporate Secretary, it was stated that the decision about Pongala which was limited to the main fireplace came only then and the vehicle hired by the civil body was used to clean the pile of garbage from the Chalai drainage road and discharged to Anayara World Market.
The utility certificate incurred by officials of each health circle is also equipped with a report.
With the Department of Urban Affairs which records unhappy in employing more vehicles, the ruling council tends to face the heat of the opposition.
In June, the request of BJP for investigating alertness was rejected through voting during the Special Council.
About 54 Board members selected an investigation of temporary alertness 33 BJP Board members supported and 13 UDF councils did not take part in voting.
