Republic Day Parade: Army India’s marching contingent to display uniform evolution, rifle

New Delhi: How uniforms and rifles of Indian soldiers have evolved over decades will be on display on the Republican Day Parade this year, General General Alok Kakkar said on Sunday.
The three Indian army saws will wear uniforms and carry rifles from the previous decade, while one contingent will wear a new combat uniform and carry the latest taving rifles at Republic Day Parade-2022 (RDP-2022) as part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrating the year -75 Indian independence, he said.
There will be a total of six marching contingsents from the Indian army at the RDP-22, he said at a press conference.
Every contingent saw at RDP-22 will consist of 96 soldiers instead of 144 so that the right attention can be given to the Covid-19 protocol.
The first marching gang of the Indian Army, the Rajput regiment army, will wear a 1950s uniform and carry Rifles .303, said Kakkar.
The second marching contingent, from the Army of the Assam Regiment, will wear a 1960s of the Indian army and bring .303 rifles.
The 1970s army uniform will be charged by the Jammu and Kashmir Infantry Regiment Army, which will form a contingent to march third, and they will bring an independent loading rifle 7.62 mm, he told.
The fourth and fifth marching contingency will have an infantry of light sikh and their respective soldiers, he said, adding that this army will wear an army uniform now and bring an instinctball rifle of 5.56 mm, Kakkar said.
The sixth contingent will be an army of parachute regiments who will wear a new combat uniform, which was launched earlier this month, and carrying Tave rifles, he said.
Overall, there will be a total of 14 marching contingen – six soldiers, one of the navies, one of the air forces, four central armed police forces (CAPFS), two national cadet corps (NCC), one of Delhi police and one of the national service schemes (NSS), he said.
