Jaipur: The Rajasthan Energy Regulatory Commission (RERC) has rejected the request of Rajasthan Vidyut Utpadan Nigam’s (Rvunl) to procure 266MW power from Lignit and Coal.
Nigam wants a 15-year offer, while according to the central norm it cannot be more than five years.
The Commission said there was a difference in estimates of power requirements from the diskom and the last and the last must target more power from renewable sources than coal and lignite.
The Energy Assessment Committee (EAC) in the 26th meeting on July 1, 2021, also felt that if the two-block supply scheme was applied, the agricultural burden would shift to a day which would further increase the peak demand in Rajasthan.
Considering the points mentioned above, EAC approved the procurement of 266MW RTC power from 1 April 2022 on a long-term basis through competitive offers.
The Commission said that the original offer document from where the applicant was looking for irregularities was a standard bid document issued by the Union Minister of Power for the procurement of power.
According to the standard bid document, the power can be purchased for a maximum of five years but the Petitioner is looking for a power supply for 15 years.
