Rescued Creatures: Activist Fights for Capital

CHENNAI: After animal activist Sai Vignesh rescued his very first creature, he had been a lanky 15-year-old navigating the flooding waters of Chennai shortly following the 2015 deluge.
What began then as an effort to rescue hungry or drowning creatures has now placed him at the helm of a bustling creature refuge built by him atop a pure expanse at Tiruvallur.
Constructed on land that is donated, it’s home to 45 bovines, 36 puppies, five hens, two rabbits and 2 hens.
Back in 2019, once Sai place the first gems of his Almighty Animal Sanctuary, he’d marketed an ancestral house and used the capital offered by family and friends, and contributions from the parents of overdue creature activist Anu Vidyato realise his dream of constructing this secure area to animals in need.
“I’ve been lucky enough to save and rehabilitate hundreds of troubled and ill animals such as dogs, birds, cats, cows, bulls, calves and pigs.
I also have discovered loving adopters for over 400 homeless cats and dogs,” he states.
Sai, together with local police authorities, continues to be instrumental in closing down illegal slaughter sheds in the region and taking in over 50 cattle spared from them to his refuge.
“We also do not require some milk from our cows, since I am vegan.
Each of the milk belongs into your calves,” says Sai.
But following the inaugural strike this past year, the 20-year-old creature activist was unable to keep up the fantastic job he’d begun with determination and passion to assist the voiceless.
With 10 packs of hay required to nourish 44 cows and 300 packs required each month; chronically sick dogs such as those experiencing disabilities and paralysis; six caretakers along with a vet that comes to test the animals – it’s been a struggle for them to make ends meet.
“My overall expenses for meals for those creatures, salary of caretakers and the veterinarian, along with the power bill touch near Rs 2,80,000 monthly.
With the beginning of the pandemic, contributions also have ceased,” says Sai, that was able to designing sites for cash, and has not been receiving job on that front also, because lockdown.
