Hyderabad: Even though the metropolitan water board Hyderabad and Sewerage Board (HMWS & SB) reportedly spent crores rupees to improve the sewerage system of the city because of 2020 floods, regions such as Ramana Enclave near Prashant Nagar Colony in Boduppal still miss the underground system of sewerage.
The colony residents, who have around 40 families, have been forced to explore their own open channels because the water board has not started underground drainage work in the region.
Residents showed that the villas in the colony were built about four years ago and that the sewerage board did work only six months ago.
However, the unused drainage pipe has been lying on the side of the road for months because Civic’s work has not yet begun.
Meanwhile, waste from each house has overflowed on the road and the entire area is filled with a foul odor.
“We have complained to local officials and corporators.
The tender is given and the work will begin, but suddenly stopped for several technical reasons and we still suffer,” said Raghu Sharma, a local resident, told toi.
Krishna Prasad, another resident, had to dig a separate hole for waste that overflowed across the street.
“The situation is getting worse when it rains because the whole road is flooded due to the lack of a drainage system.
We may be one of the last areas left within the GHMC limit not to have an underground drainage system,” Prasad Rued.
The drainage system ends near the Prashant Nagar colony and at the entrance to the bag.
The source said that tenders were canceled due to technical irregularities.
This work was reported to have been submitted to other contractors and will start later this year.
