Residents hold Candlelight Vigil in Panaji to condemn the increasing incident of rape in Goa

PANAJI: Incident of increasing rape in the city evokes a strong reaction from residents throughout the country, with members of the public meeting at Azad Maidan, Panaji to hold Candlelight Vigil on Wednesday.
Senior journalist Prakash Kamat said that people had to express their anger over these incidents by protesting peacefully and remaining vigilant to ensure cave safety.
“This rape culture is translated into sexual violence and female oppression.
People may not be involved with such crimes while remaining silent.
They must curse them.
It is the government’s duty to ensure law and order to keep the beach and public space safe for everyone,” said KAmat.
Students and young adults also participate in Vigil.
“Everyone talks about the role of teachers and parents, but even as citizens we need to ensure that the girls are well equipped in handling unwanted incidents.
Every Panchayat must hold free self-defense lessons for women,” said the participants, Raj Design.
The responsibility lies in everyone directly from parents, education systems, police and justice, said other participants Aniroodh Borkar.
Protesters also attacked comments on the head of the Sawant Pramod Minister who recently triggered anger.
“It was not in his personal capacity, but in pure spaces such as Vidhan Sabha that Sawnant made bad comments related to survivors.
Other leaders were also answered for victims ‘statements and victims’ compliance that they did not condemn,” said a citizen.
“We condemn violence against small women and women.
There is an increase in rape in Goa with three cases reported within a week.
A rapist does not see someone’s age or caste and barbarian statement from Sawant is very insensitive,” said Aap Pratima Coutinho.
