Nagpur: About 50,000 residents have taken responsibility for composting waste and produces dirt that is needed for their garden.
Ajit Kulkarni, a compost Arvind Society resident of all wet waste produced in its place and has developed a kitchen park on the terrace.
The Dhantoli Zone of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) contains Kulkarni after visiting his terrace.
The awareness program was held by Dhantoli Zone in Taman Suyog Nagar.
This zone has also organized workshops in the park in preparing vermicompost from kitchen waste and utilizing dirt to develop a kitchen park.
Volunteers from the Sustainable Development Center (CFSD) are educated by residents about the separation of waste.
They were told how to develop a kitchen park by producing organic / vermicompost with the help of wet household waste.
Then, the Assistant Commissioner visited Kulkarni’s house and saw his kitchen garden where vegetables such as brinjal, spinach, fenugreek and cabbage had been planted.
The Supplementary City Commissioner Ram Joshi claimed that between 50,000 and 60,000 households in Nagpur produced compost from household waste.
Their steps will not only help keep the city of green but also reduce the amount of waste produced in the city.
“NMC seeks to encourage residents to make compost at home.
If a large number of residents participates in this project, they will be able to grow organic vegetables at home,” Joshi said.
Civic’s body also recognized Avinash Temphurne, Hemraj Walda, Richa Hemant Chaudhary from Vinayak Nagar, Suhasini Gade, SM Katkwar, Chanchal Bhide, Vidhula Vinchalne, all from Vasant Nagar and Ratna Kandhari from Pandey Layout to produce fertilizers using waste.
