Nagpur: Residents from Gopal Nagar violently opposed the conversion of road tar in the area into concrete cement.
The project is being carried out with funds for former Minister of Main Devendra Fadnivis for His North Constituencies.
The population has established hoarding mentioning encroachment near the road by BJP Corporator Pramod Tabhane and deviations in construction work.
They also stopped the contractor to stop the project.
Two weeks ago, Fadnavis had done it for the work of concrete work from Jalan Tar 1,300 meters with a width of 12 meters.
According to a senior official from the NMC Public Works Department, Fadniv has gave RS4 crore sanctions for the job.
Toi on Thursday visits locality.
Jalan Tar Raised Returns about 15 years ago has countless holes.
Illegal construction for Tabhane’s contact office near Mate Chowk has eaten almost 15 feet from Jalan Tar.
It has become a blind turn and a place that is prone to accidents, said residents.
“In the past few years, at least four motorists have been killed by stretching because of illegal extensions by Tabhane,” Pankaj Niathote said, a local resident.
According to the local population, the Commissioner of Shyam City Wardhane has directed the Laxmi Nagar zone to undermine illegal construction.
Niathote said the citizenship administration did not take any action because Tabmane represents the powerful party in NMC.
A senior official from the NMC anti-encroachment department said that the corporator had issued three notifications.
“Tabmane has convinced to undermine its own illegal construction,” the official said and added that the corporate and zone of Laxmi Nagar had done anything.
Apart from the removal of encroachment, residents demanded that the existing road be extracted two feet deeper before starting a concrete job.
“If we don’t protest now, the road height will increase at least two legs and houses will face waterlogging during the rain,” said the residents.
At present, the height of the road in many areas is more than a residential area base bordering the road, which leads to rainwater flowing into homes.
Tabmane said he had given approval to undermine the illegal construction of his house, if any.
“I have asked NMC to do road marking and if there is a land needed, I will part with the portion,” he said and he added in the past too, some of my property was destroyed by quoting encroachment.
Corporator said prevention will be taken to ensure that the road will not cause water to move in the area.
“VNIT opinions will be searched for this,” he said.
