Panaji: Unprecedented resignation from a quarter of 40 MLA, to switch sides even before the parties said the candidate for the assembly selection of 2022, reflecting that power has shifted from political parties to representatives, experts said.
In the past, it was common for MLA to join new political parties after a ticket was rejected to them.
But this time, three MLAs Congress included their letters and joined BJP and TMC, four BJP Mlaas joined AAP, MGP, Congress, and some decided to compete as independent.
Two independent Mlaas resigned to join BJP, and one GFP MLA stopped to join BJP.
Most of MLA comes out of their parties considering their political future, and also fear of being rejected by tickets by their parties, which will cause them to get out of race.
High political aspirations have also forced some MLA to resign to joining other parties.
The former member of the Senior Congress and former Minister of Main Luizinho Faleiro has quit the party to join TMC.
He was rewarded with the chair of Rajya Sabha.
Likewise, former BJP Minister Michael Lobo came out of the cabinet and the party to join the Congress, so he could expand his base at Bardez Taluka, which had the second highest constituency after the Salcete.
