Mangaluru: With many residents getting an exortion bill, citizens demand that the water be held every month.
Then the Mayor of Divakak has decided in September last year that monthly water adatters will be held at Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) to resolve consumer complaints related to the bill.

Ravoof told TOI that many domestic consumers have received exorbitant bills to RS tones 5,000 and above per month because of damaged meters and irregular reading.
“Previously, the monthly minimum rate for 24,000 liters of water was Rs 65.
Now, it was Rs 56 per month for 8,000 liters.
Therefore, people were forced to pay Rs 168 per month for 24,000 liters of water.
MCC Board Meeting, which was held in August , has decided that a penalty should not be collected from consumers if the water meter is damaged.
It was also decided to increase the amount of water to be supplied for minimum plates from 8,000 liters to 10,000 liters.
However, the decision has not been implemented.
