Noida: Noida authority plans to change the development regulations that, if implemented, will allow retail stores, food foods, and restaurants at the Aqua line station.
The authority has requested a response from residents before notifying the domicant development regulations, which will not only allow commercial operations in the station place but also allow more ratio of floor areas.
People have been asked to share feedback on email id – cappnoida@gmail.com – on whether they want shops and restaurants in the station complex.
The last date to send a response was August 6, after the Noida Authority will continue feedback to the state government.
Aqua Line currently has 21 stations in the 30 km corridor between sectors 51 and depots in Greater Noida.
Except for a few shops, almost no commercial activity in one of these stations.
Traders have repeatedly raised questions about the feasibility of opening retail stores and other outlets at the station, indicating that the commuter footfall has not taken.
But Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMCR) often checks the idea of retail stores at the station, saying it will increase its income.
NMRC will develop another route to link sectors 142 with botanical gardens and sector 51 with the knowledge of Park V.
“NMRC wants to make the metro station more interesting and useful for commuters.
The idea is to offer the things that people need at home at the metro station itself In addition to providing recreational activities.
This step will help NMRC to make METRO operations more sustainable.
At present, building regulations do not allow the addition of space at the station, “said Ishtiyak Ahmed, General Manager (Planning) in Noida Authority.
Officials said if the building regulation was revised, it would allow more floor areas at the upcoming station compared to existing ones.
Today far away at the Aqua Line station is 2.5, but can be increased to 4.5 if the regulation is changed.
This will allow NMRC to add floors in the station building.
“Once the government approved the proposal, we will increase far from the metro station under the 4.5 NMRC,” said other authority officials.
NMRC officials said they were inspired by the Metro operating model in Delhi and Gurgaon to come up with the idea of promoting commercial activities.
“Commercial operations are needed at the Aqua line station.
People have to get things they need to store in their bags at the station themselves.
On several stations, it is difficult to get bottled water or snacks.
On the contrary, the Botanical Garden Station held a number of students and Young commuters because of the presence of shops, “said Abhinav Dhiman, a resident of sector 94.
