Jamamu: Jammu & Kashmir Party Apni (JKAP) on Wednesday protests who demanded the commencement of ‘Darbar Move,’ Long-brained practices to move government offices between the capital of Twin and Jammu.
Led by JKAP Trade Union Wing President Ajaz Kazmi, a number of JKAP activists gathered near the press club in Jammu and held a protest sitting.
Then, protesters tried to march towards the city center but were intercepted by the police contingent.
Some JKAP activists were also detained when they tried to take a rally without permission.
“We impress the government to review their decisions with the best interests of the people,” Kazmi told the media.
‘Darbar Move’ is traditional practice to shift the civil secretariat and other government offices from the State of Jammu and Kashmir twice a year between Srinagar and Jammu.
When summer is located, offices at Jammu, in the last week of April to reopen in Srinagar in the first week of May.
Likewise with the emergence of winter, the office was closed in Srinagar in the last week of October to be reopened in Jammu in the first week of November.
‘Darbar Move’ means that around 10,000 employees who work at the civil secretariat will move along with truck files through 300 km of Jamamu-Srinagar Highway twice every year.
Apart from efforts, this exercise costs the government of almost Rs 200 Crore every year.
Loads are released on transportation and move staff including travel rates and settings for their accommodation.
In April this year, J & K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha postponed a shift to Srinagar considering the Covid-19 pandemic.
Then in June, LG announced that the J & K government had completely turned to the e-office, thus ending practice.
