Srinagar: People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) on Monday said the assembly selection must be held only after a state recovery to Jammu and Kashmir and asked the central government led by BJP to respect his commitment made on the parliamentary floor.
“As far as regarding state recovery, it has become a BJPS commitment on the parliamentary floor and they must respect their words,” said Alliance spokesman and CPI (M) who said M Y Tarigami in a statement.
Tarigami said the selection of assembly “must be held only after full state recovery” to Jammu and Kashmir.
“For this purpose, PAGD has decided to reach other political parties in Jammu and Kashmir with the intention of taking a shared position on this issue,” he said.
PAGD’s statement came a day after a meeting of alliances on Sunday under the leadership of Farooq Abdullah – President of the National Conference (NC) – at Gupkar’s residence here.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Chairperson of the Alliance and the Democratic Party (PDP) of the Mehbooba Party Mufti, Tarigami, Leader of NC Hasnain Masoodi, Head of the Peoples Movement Javed Mustafa Mir and Deputy President of the Lay National Conference Muzaffar Ahmed Shah.
The meeting was called to discuss the meeting of all parties chaired by the Prime Minister in Delhi on June 24, a PAGD spokesman said.
