Ranchi: Workers at Heavy Engineering Corporation Ltd (HEC) continue their strikes for their unpaid wages on Saturday afternoon, the day after the ‘Tool Down’ 37 day strike was called after PSU assured them that all their wages were extraordinary.
The last seven months will be paid in the phase.
Workers said their strikes would continue until HEC provided a written guarantee that their wages would be paid.
Management, however, said that restrictions on several disorders by some unwanted elements on certain store floors were immediately sorted, production in three units was mostly normal on Saturday.
Director of HEC (Personnel) M Ken Saxena said, “production at all three units – Foundry and Forge Plant, heavy equipment heavy equipment and heavy machine building factories – have recorded normal 90%.” Saxena further said that management had issued an appeal on Friday, asking workers to continue work with a guarantee that a one-month wage would be paid to all workers, including the contract, on January 10, a considerable part of the workers.
The work left on Saturday, a burning copy of the ‘appeal’ issued by management and emphasized that their strike would continue until the formal agreement was signed by HEC with representatives of trade unions that spelled payment modalities.
