Gurgaon: The intersection of forty, crossing and T-persistence is set to see an increase in road safety over the next few months under the first phase of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) to change and make 106 cominger friendly intersections.
Under the project, the authority will install a reflective road buttons, solar cat eyes, metal delineaters, Bollard, flexible median markers and mark the zebra crossing.
In addition, Advance direction advertising board, the signs of the danger markers and round tree reflectors will also be arranged, officials said.
At present, GMDA has floated tenders that invite online offers for jobs that are expected to cost around Rs 2.61 Crore and completed in four months.
“Tender who is looking for online offers through e-tenders for the project was warried earlier this year.
However, two or three institutions applied to the work found not qualifying, so we floated again,” JS Sindhu, traffic engineer for the GMDA Mobility Division , say.
The proposal to increase 106 intersections was discussed at the GMDA Core Planning Cell (CPC) meeting in July.
After the CPC recommends these steps, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sud-Hir Rajpal has directed that 35 to 40 intersections “maximum priority” must be identified and work on “priority”.
MG Road Metro Station Intersection, Bristol Chowk, Effco Chowk Metro Station, Galleria Market Junction, Sikanderpur Metro Chowk, Wazirabad Chowk, Ait Chowk, Genpact Chowk, Bakhtawa Chowk, Artemis Chowk, Medanta Hospital Intersection, Sector Traffic Signal 46/47, Ghata turned, rezang La Chowk and Hero Honda Chowk is one of the intersections that will be developed in the first phase.
Another intersection that will be changed includes Jharsa Chowk, Sector 4/7 Chowk, Pataudi Chowk, Iti Chowk, Ambedkar Chowk, Good Earth Chowk, Khushboo Chowk, South City 2 Intersection, Sector 31 Traffic and Arcadia Chowk.
“Such road safety measures are very important for all people and their interests cannot be damaged.
However, it still has to be seen whether this project really sees daylight and how long for the job is finished,” said Namrata Sharma, a resident of Phase IV, said .
“GMDA trace record, when it comes to changing their plans into a fast fact with fast speed, not the most convincing.
In addition, another problem is the extent to which the population itself will comply with the norms and take advantage of these steps.
Zebra’s crossings and signs It’s already in several areas, but pedestrians or riders pay a little attention to them, which leads to chaos on the streets, “he said.
