Gurgaon: The 7.5km path that connects Atul Kataria Chowk and Rianta La Chowk through a sector 5 intersection can immediately undergo a transformation, with the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) plans to develop it as a ‘road model’.
According to GMDA officials, all stretches will be strengthened and enhanced as part of the project and some facilities will also be made for pedestrians and cyclists.
Apart from the path and cycle path, parking area, rest area, bus shelter, and “other user facilities as needed” will be developed, said an official.
The project will also include design drainage systems for stretching, along with the exhaust point for stormwater and rain from the surrounding area.
GMDA will also ensure sufficient lighting for the road.
In addition, the traffic safety features and ‘road furniture’ will also be installed along stretches, including traffic signals, traffic signs, road signs, overhead signs, collision and delineator obstacles.
“At present, we have drifted consulting services that are looking for tenders to prepare for detailed feasibility reports and project reports for the project.
It will take around six months to prepare these documents alone, so that working on the ground cannot begin before the second half of the year Home, “said GMDA Traffic Engineer (Mobility Division) JS Sindhu said.
“Costs and details about how much time needed to complete the work are not clear now.

Two intersections that will function as the endpoint of ‘road model’ are themselves among those who are busied in the city.
According to the GMDA comprehensive mobility plan released in December last year, more than 46,000 vehicles traveled through AUL Kataria Chowk and more than 14,000 vehicles through La Junction rezang every year.
Areas near Sheetla Mandir, which is located along the stretch too, also has a very high volume of pedestrian movements, with more than 150 pedestrians walking across the street and more than 1,300 runs along every hour during rush hour, the report revealed.
“Good Atul Kataria Chowk and Rezang La Chowk is a critical intersection in Gurgaon, providing access to Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway, Old Delhi-Gurgaon Road and Jalan Najafgarh-Kapashera.
