McLaren Daniel Ricciardo has given a thumbs up on new fireproof gloves, developed by the Formula One leader after Romain Grosjean’s Fiery Crash in Bahrain last year, after a trial at the Turkish Grand Prix weekend.
Grosjean made a magical run from a fireball accident in November but suffered burns on the back of his hand as he climbed debris.
French car Haas menpeared through a protective barrier that lines the track in the impact of 53G which divides it into two and caught fire.
The FIA government has worked to improve protection from fires and last week announced that the selected driver would test new gloves for comfort and dexterity during the practice of the Turkish Grand Prix.
“I use it …
I don’t see the difference,” said Ricciardo Australia, one of the five who was authorized to try it.
“I’m not too fussy with kits …
but really fine for me.
That’s a nice addition without a downside.” Michael Masi racing director said the test went well.
“Because of the incident …
it is the area that we started working immediately, and I think we identify very quickly that it is an area that we can increase,” he told reporters.
“The initial feedback from the driver is ‘Yup, everything is good’.
There are some fine-tuning elements with several brands but nothing cannot be overcome.” Masi said the fireproof properties have been proven and now only questions about the driver’s comfort.
