Kalaburagi: Those who fired their single Tong rifles during the ‘Jan Asirwad Yatra’ held in Yaragold Village in Yadgir on Wednesday to welcome the newly appointed Union Minister Bhagwanth Khuba could lose their weapons license.
Farmers filled gelatin powder into their weapons and fired a shot to welcome the Union minister.
As many as four farmers have been ordered under ACT Act, and sent to detention, while three police officers have also been suspended.
Yadgir police supervisor CB Vedamurthy has assigned the police sub-inspector and the scope of the inspector to investigate the incident, while Deputy SP for Yadgir Rural has issued a notification of the show.
Vedamurthy was confirmed to Stoi that he had recommended to Deputy Commissioner Yadgir to cancel the three-peasant rifle license.
Questions about former Minister and leader BJP Baburao Chinchansur held a rifle, Vedamurthy said that the accusation would be investigated.
Nagaraj, the son of Sharanappa Gundappa Bhimalli – one of the four who has been sent to the court detention, said that the former minister who had asked his father to bring a gun to the event.
“But my father is now behind bars.
The former minister must come to my father’s help,” Nagaraj appealed.
Vedamurthy said that farmers had issued a license to bring rifles to protect their fields from wild animals.
“But they have harassed the license by firing it during Jan Ashirwad Yatra,” he said.
