Jaipur: After Rajasthan Transport Department has become the first in this country to make it mandatory to encourage SIM applicants to declare their willingness or reluctance for the organ declaration, almost 2 Lakh applicants have approved a corpse organ donation between September 2020 and June 2021.
In 2018 State Transport Department includes a new category – ask for applicants if they are organ donors – in an online application for driving SIM updates and for new publishing.
However, applicants will choose the ‘pass’ option because it was replaced with a ‘response’ in yes or no, in August last year.
Commissioner of the Department of Transportation Mahendra Soni said, “Rajasthan is the first country to provide the provision of organ donations for students’ licenses too.
When a applicant fills out an online form for SIM, they have to choose ‘yes’ or’ no ‘for the donation of the organ that without the application will not submitted in software.
In 10 months, people agree to organ donations have increased from 3% to 30%.
Awareness campaigns on the same thing will also be carried out in the coming days.
“According to the department, a total of 1,90,398 people who signed up for SIM has given their approval for organ donations.
The state of the desert is also the first to issue a SIM that bears the ‘donor organ’ logo.
Officials claim that this initiative makes it simpler for authority in the event of an accident or if the individual is declared dead brain to take his organs and contribute to patients who need a transplant.
For those who have a license incurred before this feature can also be a donor of the organ when they go for a license update or to update the details on the document.
Every year, the issue department is around 10-11 lakh driving licenses, while Rajasthan witnessed about 5% of the total accidents that occurred in the country.
