Jaipur: A survey to assess the feasibility of Kumbhalgarh Sanctuary as potential tiger reserves will begin in September.
Previously, the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) had fixed August 26 to start an assessment, but after members of the committee were replaced, the date was postponed.
A senior forest official said, “Member of the DR Kaushik Banerjee Committee, research scientist, Tiger cells, Wii, will not be able to come for assessment.
He will be replaced by senior biologist Ayan Sadhu.
Now, the committee will visit for assessment in September.

“The four committee members consisted of two IFS retirees, RN Mehrotra and NK Vasu, Sadhu and Hemant Kamdi, AIG, NTCA, who have been appointed as members of members.

Fateh Singh Rathore, DCF (wildlife) Rajsamand said, “With a good prey base and a little human intervention, Kumbhalgarh is the ideal tiger habitat.
Hopefully we can watch this magnificent cat here in the coming years.” Kumbhalgarh Sanctuary is spread on 1,280SQKM, which is larger than Sariska, and has recorded the presence of tigers since the 1970s.
