Jaipur: Following the start of the Domestic Cargo Terminal (DCT) at City Airport on June 1, the monthly cargo movement has increased by almost 200 metric tons (MT) compared to the volume when cargo operations are carried out through a temporary setting.
Meanwhile around 500 mt before the DCT was launched, around 700 MT in June, although no international cargo was brought or sent due to a pandemic.
Advanced cargo terminals operated by Cargo AAI logistics and Allied Services Limited (AAICLAS), AAI subsidiaries, are the largest in North India other than Delhi.
This is the third largest DCT developed by Aaiclas apart from Kolkata and Chennai.
The cargo terminal will also begin international operations once the situation of the pandemic is increasing, the officials are claimed.
During June, 730 MT cargo was recorded at the terminal where 429 MT was out of bounds.
In May, the cargo movement was 534 mt.
Officials claimed that over the past few years, cargo circulation improved manifold.
In 2014-15, 9,265 MT cargo was handled, which increased to 17,680 mt in 2019-20.
Cargo Handling domestic airline is Air Asia, First, Indigo Air, Spicejet and Air India.
Cargo terminal has a strong room for valuables as well as dangerous cargo rooms and four cold storage to handle general goods, valuables, easy damaged items, dangerous cargo etc.
Other facilities include parking, x-ray machines, fire round management, CCTV cameras and others.
The ground floor of the DCT building accommodates the employee’s office.
While reservations for cargo can be done through airlines, warehouse operations are handled by Aaiclas.
