Jaipur: A 97-year-old World War Veteran from Jhunjhunu, who lost his leg while fighting in Italy in 1944, was still waiting for the retirement of the disability of his war, which had been rejected by the court to date.
Sepoy Balwant Singh was put into Punjab Regiment 3/1 in 1943.
During the attack in Italy on December 15, 1944, his left leg was blown in a mine explosion.
He became an invalid service and left in 1946 with retirement basic disabilities after being transferred to Rajputana Rifles.
In 1972, the center made the provisions to provide a war injury to all those who suffered injuries during various wars, but denied the same thing as those who suffered injuries during World War.
War veteran cases have been in the Armed Forces Court (AFT), Jaipur, since 2010, but have not yet reached conclusions.
Recently, in a similar case, Lucknow AFT had commanded the retirement of war disability to be given to other injured soldiers during World War II.
Coming from Gidanilya Village in Jhunjhunu District, Balwant Singh was transferred to Rajputana Rifles after injury before he was dismissed from the troops.
His legal counsel Colonel SB Singh (RETD) told Tii, “The government made the provisions for the retirement of war defects, which was 100% of the last drawn salary to be given to those who were injured in the post-1947 battle and Indian soldiers fighting in the world of war.
Balwantic disability Singh was 100% when he lost his left foot.
But because there was no judge in AFT, his case was waiting.
Normal disabled retirement was only 30% of ordinary pensions, but he had to be given a retirement of war disability as done by Lucknow AFT in the case of a soldier Garhwal.
“The left veteran war service on May 11, 1946, after service three years, two months and 16 days with retirement disabilities.
Claiming that the family did not receive assistance from the state government, the son of Veteran Subhash Singh, “We live in the village and do not know anything about retirement for those who are injured in the war.
We only realized it after the Cargil War.
However, the court said my father, Which is one of the oldest people who are still alive from Rajasthan and fighting in World War II, do not qualify for retirement of war disabilities.
This case has been in court and we hope his contribution is recognized by the legal system so he gets a retirement of war defects.
