RMC starts driving to make morhabadi plastic zones and tobacco

Ranchi: To make Morhabadi land free of non-biodegradable waste and make it a tobacco-free zone, Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has started a special drive and has asked for street vendors not to use plates, cups and non- biodegradable products made of thermocol or plastic in their shops.
On Tuesday, as part of a special drive, the city manager team, along with cell officials upholding, touring Morhabadi directing vendors to stop using plate, cups, and other consumables made of plastic and thermocol.
Speaking with Toi, Deputy Commissioner of Municipal (DMC) Rajnish Kumar said: “We have planned a series of drives to make the area inside and around Morhabadi free waste.
The most challenging part is controlling the waste produced in a food stall.
So we have asked the shop owner Eat to stop using non-biodegradable items and switch to plates and bowls made of leaves.
“RMC has given two days to vendors to comply with instructions.
The Civic’s body has also prepared a detailed plan to make tobacco free areas as part of where the RMC team will begin to work to ensure that the provisions of the Cotpa Law fulfill and prohibit tobacco products not be sold in stalls.
A senior officer in knowledge about the plan: “RMC has decided to set Morhabadi for example zone without plastic and non-biodegradable waste elimination is the first step.
After this we will ensure that all substances based on tobacco, which has been banned by the state government, Not sold in the area.
“City DMC Kumar said:” Our focus is in the Morhabadi area for now and once we succeed here, we will bring it to other parts of the city too.
