Rajkot: Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) will get 4,000 radio frequency identification marking (RFID) to mark wild cows and control the Bovine population on public roads.
Tagging is expected to begin by the end of this month.
The RMC cattle control department (CNCD) has strengthened its impulse to capturing livestock lost in the past month after order from the state government and also directed by the BJP State President R R Paatil to the recent mayor to a recent visit to Rajkot.
According to officials in the body of Civic, an average of 50 cows were arrested every day, which were previously at 25.
RMC marked around 8,000 cows in 2016-17, but the chances of damaging the tags were far high.
Therefore, it becomes difficult to identify the animal even if found wandering on the road for the second or third time RFID if they want to look after livestock in the city.
This tag will tell us animal ownership and we will also know that in the past also the same animal caught violating the rules.
We will decide more penalties for repeat violators to control the threat of livestock.
“According to officials, the arrested animal that was arrested would not be returned to the owner just by collecting a penalty.
To build ownership, farmers must mark their own livestock.
At present there is a penalty once by RS 1,000 while Rs 700 is charged every day for large animal food.
There is no higher penalty for repeat violators.
RMC has allocated a budget RS 8 Lakh to buy RFID tags and readers.
RFID chips will be included under the livestock skin that contains the name of the owner’s name, area, age etc.
Officials can read this data using Readers and immediately identify animal history.
According to the rules, cattle farmers who do not have land in the city are not permitted to keep animals and cattle farmers not allowed to release animals on the road.
