Surat: About 400 staffers of all Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (DGVCL) attained Bhavnagar during Ro-Ro post Friday afternoon to help reestablish power infrastructure in both regions of Saurashtra battered by cyclone Tauktae. As many as 30 groups of junior programmer, line employees and janitorial workers of DGVCL set sail out of Hazira on Friday morning to assist their counterparts of Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (PGVCL). Several cities and cities in the area have been fighting with no power because the night of May 18. Officials stated that the groups have transported necessary gear, bicycles and pole machinery. Ro-Ro ferry providers have been selected so the employees could be pushed into recovery work immediately. “Apart from those who travelled via Ro-Ro ferry, 300 others are in their approach to Saurashtra by street. Some will hit Friday and others are going to hit by Saturday afternoon,” said Yogesh Choudhary, managing director of DGVCL. The state government has also made a decision to improve remuneration of builders by 50 percent of the prevailing speed to revive electricity onto a war-footing. Daily allowance of staffers involved with labour will also be awakened, the authorities announced.
