Road death in Odisha rose 8.8% between January to March 2021

Bhubaneswar: Death due to an accident in Odisha increased by 8.87% in the first three months of 2021 compared to the period in accordance last year.
The total number of accidents also rose by almost 12% in the first three months of this year as against the same period last year.
According to state crime branch statistics, the number of accidents rose from 2,881 in the first quarter of 2020 to 3,225 during the same period this year.
While 1353 people were killed in the accident last year, victims rose to 1473 between January and March, 2021.
“We hope to decrease death in the second quarter, remember the shutdown and weekend locks that come into force in April.

The department has asked the district collector to install CCT V cameras on the stretch of accidents and black spots on the highway.
The government said the collectors must implement the CCTV supervision system from the District Mineral Fund (DMF) or rope in the company for the company’s social responsibility funds (CSR).
