Bengaluru: Head of Minister of Balasavaraj Bommai in Beleagavi on Thursday declared concern over the estimated maintenance costs of 12 high traffic density corridors in Bengaluru for five years – RS 785 Crore.
The length of this artery road is 191km.
According to the data submitted during the question and answer hours in the legislative council, the cost of increasing the initial corridor (65.85km) will be RS 335.2 Crore and the first year care cost of Rs 142.1 Crore.
With costs expected to increase by 5% every year for the next four years, the total expenditure is Rs 785.3 Crore.
The Ministry of Finance has approved the project and the government assigned the task for the Karnataka Road Development Corporation (KRDCL).
However, CM said because there were shortcomings, all tenders had been canceled and instructions had been given to the corporation to call for a new one.
The question on these streets was submitted by MLC PR Ramesh.
Bommai said he was surprised by the cost of exorbitant maintenance when construction work was carried out at a reduced price.
“When I asked officers why the cost was high, they said maintenance was done with an annual contract,” he said.
CM shows that instead of submitting maintenance to several other institutions (in this case, KRDCL), the road must be overcome by those who have carried out development work.
He said the cost of treatment that rose against the cost of initial improvement seems incorrect.
Previously, short-term tenders were called in four packages via KRDCL.
However, when the corporation sent a proposal to request approval for financial offers, the government canceled the tender.
Daily maintenance includes road sweeping, removing debris, deviating waterways on both sides, patrol, installation of retro-reflective signs, marketing, preparing traffic boards and maintenance of embarries and disorders.
