Road Mishaps, crime rate down in Madurai

MADURAI: ” There have been fewer offense incidents and road injuries in May in comparison to past months because of the lockdown.
There hasn’t been one street fatality in May thus much, although the amount of non-fatal mishaps has come down dramatically.
Lesser vehicles on streets, visible policing and unavailability of alcohol have been supposedly the factors for the decline in road mishaps.
The typical road mishaps in town is approximately around 50- 60.
Back in Aprilthere was 40 non-fatal along with five deadly injuries, killing five people, and it came back to 15 non-fatal injuries and no deaths from May.

As opportunities of drive and drink episodes have come down, it’s helped to reduce mishaps.
Lesser automobile movement means fewer injuries, police officers said.
In the same way, offense events come down.
“Together with the folks staying inside it’s natural for events like home break-in episodes to return.
But, bicycle thefts and series snatchings and robberies also have come down, state police officers.
“House break-in events largely occur during weekends and long holidays as individuals have a tendency to travel a good deal.
Burglars generally target homes that are locked always for a couple of days.
This is why we had to insist on individuals to notify us if they leave town for a couple of days,” a police officer in Madurai town authorities said.
House break-in events come to eight in May out of 12 in April.
Data available using the authorities demonstrate that six string snatching incidents happened in April, but came down to 3 in May.
In the same way, motorcycle theft episodes return to eight in May out of 25 in April.
Police officers stated that on a normal bicycle 17-18 motorcycle theft have been reported in per month at town.

While 73 suspicious passing episodes (suicide instances are often registered as questionable departure under CrPc department 174) have been reported from April, in May that there have been 56 events.
