Guwahati: A member of ‘Irani Gang’, who was arrested by the police in Guwahati in connection with a robbery case, a sustainable bullet injury in the police shot while allegedly tried to escape detention on Saturday.
The defendant has been identified as Amar Gowala.
He came from Jharkhand and stayed rented at Amingaon in North Guwahati over the past few months.
After the incident, the defendant was rushed to Gahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
The GMChintendent Supervisor Abhijit Sarma said the patient was received at around 2am on Saturday with a bullet injury under the knee on his right leg.
“We have found a wound in and out on his leg.
Two bones have been found damaged.
He must stay in the hospital at least 10-15 days,” he added.
The defendant, together with his three friends on Wednesday, robbed Rs 3.35 lakh in cash from a Gautati Employee Municipal Corporation (GMC) in a dispur, almost 200 meters from the Police Station Dibpur and 300 meters from the capital complex, during the day, at the daytime During the day using a toy gun.
